ACARE develops vision papers and a strategic research agenda (SRIA) for European Aviation Research and Innovation activities. The latest vision document \u201cFlightpath 2050\u201d was presented in 2011 and its goals are summarized as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>European research and innovation strategies are jointly defined by all stakeholders,\u00a0public and private<\/li>\n<li>Creation of a network of multi-disciplinary technology clusters\u00a0based on collaboration between industry, universities<\/li>\n<li>Identification, maintenance and ongoing development of strategic European aerospace test, simulation and development facilities.\u00a0The ground and airborne validation and certification processes are integrated where appropriate<\/li>\n<li>Students are attracted to careers in aviation.\u00a0Courses offered by European Universities closely match the needs of the Aviation Industry,\u00a0its research establishments and administrations and evolve continuously as those needs develop.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In response to this new vision, a new <a href=\"https:\/\/innovair.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/SRIA-Executive-Summary-2012.pdf\">SRIA \u2013 Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda<\/a> was elaborated by ACARE during 2012, concurrently with the establishment of new research programmes in Europe and at a national level including \u201cHorizon 2020\u201d.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/www.asd-europe.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ASD \u2013\u00a0AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>ASD represents the aeronautics, space, defence and security industries in Europe in all matters of common interest with the objective of promoting and supporting the competitive development of the sector.\u00a0ASD\u2019s membership is composed of 15 major European aerospace and defence companies and 27 member associations in 20 countries.<\/p>\n<h4>IMG4 \u2013\u00a0Industry Management Group<\/h4>\n<p>IMG4 is the European Aeronautics industry network for R&amp;T working within the framework of ASD. IMG4 coordinates industry\u2019s position with regard to the EC Civil Aeronautics Framework Programmes. IMG4 represents the European Aeronautics Industry through the Industry Management Groups (IMG).<\/p>\n<p>IMG4 comprises representation from four groupings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Euromart IMG (Airframe)<\/li>\n<li>Engine IMG<\/li>\n<li>Equipment IMG<\/li>\n<li>ATM IMG<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/www.erea.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EREA \u2013\u00a0Association of European Research Establishments in Aeronautics<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>EREA is the association of national aeronautics research institutes in Europe. With respect to EC Civil Aeronautics Framework Programmes, EREA has a similar role for the research institutes that IMG4 has for the industry.<\/p>\n<p>EREA also takes up joint research applications and will within Horizon 2020 perform the programme\u00a0Future Sky.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/www.easn.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EASN \u2013\u00a0European Aeronautics Science Network<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>The long-term goal of establishing EASN was to build up an open, European platform in order to structure, support and upgrade the research activities of the European aeronautics universities, as well as to facilitate them to respond to their key role within the European aeronautical research community.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eda.europa.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EDA \u2013\u00a0European Defence Agency<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>The European Defence Agency (EDA) was established under a joint action of the council of ministers on 12 July 2004, to support the member states and the council in their effort to improve European defence capabilities in the field of crisis management and to sustain the European\u00a0security and defence policy (ESDP).<\/p>\n<p>EDA is composed of 27 participating Member States (all EU Member States, except Denmark). EDA develops strategies for defense technology and industrial base in Europe, for cooperation on military capabilities in Europe, and also develops strategies for R&amp;T. For aeronautics, the activities within the group Cap Tech ESM 02 is of special interest.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/www.easa.europa.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EASA\u00a0\u2013 European Aviation Safety Agency<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>EASA is the European Union authority in aviation safety. The main activities of the organisation include the strategy and safety management, the certification of aviation products and the oversight of approved organisations and EU Member States.<\/p>\n<p>EASA plays a leading role within the EU external aviation policy: the agency is a strong counterpart of other aviation authorities outside the EU (e.g. USA, Canada, Brazil) and a major contributor to the export of the EU aviation standards worldwide, in order to promote the movement of EU aeronautical products, professionals, and services throughout the world.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eurocontrol.int\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EUROCONTROL \u2013\u00a0European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>EUROCONTROL is an intergovernmental organisation with 41 member states that handles air-traffic-management issues and is committed to ensure the safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly air traffic in Europe.
