International aeronautics innovation
GARTEUR, denoting the Group for Aeronautical Research and Technology in EURope, conducts joint research in a number of basic aeronautical disciplines through a joint MoU (memorandum of understanding) signed by the governments of the seven leading European aeronautics countries France, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Sweden and the UK.
GARTEUR is a unique organisation in Europe in two respects: it is the only organisation that has participants from both research institutes and industry, and it is the only organisation engaged in aeronautics research regarding both civil and military applications.
The GARTEUR Council contains Swedish members from FOI, FMV and Vinnova.
GARTEUR Technical activities cover the following areas:
- Aerodynamics
- Aviation security
- Flight mechanics, systems and integration
- Helicopters
- Structures and materials
The coordination groups (groups of responsables) for these areas have representatives from both research organisations and industry. The Swedish representatives in these groups can be found on the GARTEUR website which is here. A large number of technical research reports from earlier projects are available and can be downloaded from the website.
