NATIONAL AERONAUTICS RESEARCH PROGRAMME
The National Aeronautics Research Programme (NFFP), started in 1994, and is now finalizing its sixth stage NFFP6 (2013-2016). The next stage NFFP7 has been started in summer 2017 and will cover the period 2017-2022. A startup seminar about NFFP7 was held 2017-01-27. Check out presentations on the Swedish webpage: LINK

The aim of NFFP is to further develop research resources within the country at companies, research institutes, universities and colleges, and to co-ordinate the utilisation of these resources. (NFFP is a Swedish abbreviation of Nationellt Flygtekniskt ForskningsProgram).
NFFP is an important part of national aeronautical research with the aim to strengthen the competitiveness of Swedish industry. The programme covers aeronautical research that is of interest for both civil and military purposes. The programme should also increase Sweden’s ability to actively participate in and benefit from international research and technological collaboration. A summary NFFP presentation (in Swedish) from 2014 is linked here: INNOVAIR ÅM 140924_NFFP-pres_Mats-Olof Olsson
NFFP6 had a total budget of 440 million SEK, out of which 220 million comes from the government and the other half from industry. The public funding is spent for research performed at universities, research institutes, and SMEs.
NFFP is governed by a decision-making body appointed by the Swedish Government. This is made up of one member and one deputy member from each of the participating companies and from the Swedish Armed Forces, VINNOVA, and the Defence Materiel Administration (FMV). VINNOVA acts as the administrative office of this body and implements the decisions it makes. For NFFP6 there has been two calls which are linked here:

NFFP started in 1994 is now in its sixth stage NFFP6 (2013-2016). The cooperation between government and industry, facilitated by NFFP, is now well established and is a successful way of strengthening the Swedish aeronautics industry through needs-driven research. NFFP has in a number of evaluations proved to be a very successful programme with high accomplishment and relevance – two evaluation reports from 2004 and 2008 are linked here:
NFFP utvärderingsrapport 2004
NFFP utvärderingsrapport 2008
NFFP is an important link in the national collaboration in aeronautics research. Within the agreed framework NFFP has built up a broad and strong research at Swedish universities, colleges and institutes, which has been an important base for their ability to participate in both Swedish and European research programs.
