National aeronautics innovation
The Research and Technology (R&T) programme of the Swedish Armed Forces has the overall objective to:
- support the continued realisation of a flexible and accessible operational defence;
- secure freedom of action for future decisions;
- be utilized in the Armed Forces’ operations.
The programme is divided into 13 different R&T areas. Aeronautics-related activities are imbedded in at least five of these areas – with the main area for aeronautics called Aeronautics with Electronics & Construction. These R&T activities are intended to be more long-term but supplementary to the Gripen aircraft development programme.
